Sketchwork is useful in the design process because it allows ideas to be communicated quickly. My general approach is to use digital sketching in as fast and loose a way as possible to allow us to get to the modelling phases of product development where designs can be refined against real-world dimensions. Matching the level of sketch resolution to the project requirements allows projects to move forward efficiently. Sometimes a thumbnail sketch is all that is needed & sometimes CAD is quicker than sketching. It boils down to selecting the right tool for the job in that instance.

Previous to my product design career I was classically trained in life-drawing classes & have drawn since a young age. The work shown here is product design specific & are examples of high resolution digital sketching without annotation (for presentation purposes).
