Process

The design process is not linear. The steps below represent the types of output I provide clients in their most common order. Each step has varying levels of depth & that is dependent on your needs. The work on show is all my own, bar manufacturing imagery. For a customised plan, specific to your business, get in touch:

01 Research

What is your market competition? How do they make their products? What are your brands values & how will these translate into a physical product? Research kicks projects off but continues through the entire process.

Sketching is an efficient way to communicate an idea. The level of refinement varies depending on your requirements. This is an example of a refined concept, without annotation.

02 ID Sketching

Once the industrial design direction is decided we provide ID CAD models up to G2 surface continuity. From here we can assess whether the design looks right & amend it as required before prototyping at scale.

03 ID Modelling

Fail fast & prototype often. We provide inhouse FDM 3D prints to assess the design at each stage of its development limiting the potential for difficulties downstream.

04 Prototyping

05 Design Engineering

We offer senior/ lead level design engineering services to design your product for manufacture. Regular prototyping ensures the product looks and functions as intended prior to supplier handover.

We have links to trusted UK-based & offshore suppliers. Generally the process works best if suppliers are contacted ahead of time & communicated with throughout. We recommend using their engineering teams for final DFM adjustments to ensure successful results.

06 Manufacture

How you market your product is crucial to ensuring market success. We can provide high level rendering & animation services at any stage of a product’s development to gain you rounds of funding, promote your brand and ultimately sell your product successfully.
