This project showcases sensors that I designed with Smith Robotics Ltd. for the SmartCity InnovateUK & UKRI - Industrial Decarbonisation Challenge (IDC) in 2023.
I contributed to all aspects of the physical product design for several sensors for various applications. From ideation to design engineering with inhouse prototyping. The range of caseworks includes a Solar Sensor, which offers a multitude of functionalities (shown below in exploded view) & a potted mini sensor, suitable for focused applications such as monitoring ash trees to help prevent ash dieback - a significant issue affecting many UK & European forests, leading to unfortunate tree loss. The caseworks are designed for 3D print initially, with the aim to amend them for moulding at a later stage.
Smith Robotics has employed me on several projects, often involving the design and manufacture of environmental & wildlife sensors. This product is currently on hold while we developed a more pressing product which is shown on the next page. See project.
